Lootborn Warriors Build Guide: Bleed, Frost Hammer and Fire Hammer

Three Lootborn Warriors builds compared: bleed stacks before the payoff, a frost hammer control chain, and a fire hammer crit window, plus the retainer rule.

If you fire the bleed payoff on two stacks, you are not playing a bleed build. You are playing a weak direct-damage build with extra steps. All three Lootborn Warriors builds share one shape: a setup phase, a threshold, and a payoff that is only worth using after the setup lands.

These are three build skeletons for the same hero, not three characters. The difference is which resource you manage: bleed stacks, control duration, or rage.

Match the build to the fight you are losing

BuildCore loopReported thresholdJob
BleedStack bleed, then spend itFive stacks before the payoff skillBosses, long single-target fights, PvP pressure
Frost hammerFreeze, frostbite, slowChain near 3.2 seconds; 45 percent or higher hastePvP, high-difficulty content
Fire hammerCharge, build rage, area burstCrit rate held at 50 to 55 percentFast farming in secret realms
Thorns spinWhirlwind plus reflectNo published thresholdSustained area damage with a defensive floor

The thresholds are community-reported. Use them as design targets, not pass-fail exams.

Decision rule: if you keep dying before the boss's last phase, start with frost hammer; if the boss outlasts you on one target, start with bleed; if farm stages are slow but safe, start with fire hammer.

Bleed: five stacks before the payoff

The skeleton is Tear as the basic applicator, Deep Cut as the payoff, Stomp for vulnerability and Roar for group damage. The passives matter more: the rage passive reportedly adds bleed on a crit, which makes crit rate a hidden stack-generation stat. A dodge passive and a kill-heal passive round out survival.

Whirlwind is the stack tool, reported at six hits for 180 percent attack and 30 energy. That cost is the real limiter; you trade energy for stacks, then spend the stacks with Deep Cut.

Level gates matter. Deep Cut reportedly unlocks at level 11, and the Tear plus Whirlwind combination comes online around level 14 after two or three stages. Before those gates the build does not exist, so do not judge it by early output.

Decision rule: if the target has fewer than five stacks, Whirlwind first; Deep Cut on a low count is a wasted payoff. Once stacks are up, use Stomp on cooldown and keep the stacks rolling.

A reported rune shape is extra bleed damage on Tear, Deep Cut, Stomp, a higher Roar and Pierce for recovery. The attached retainers are a bleed-damage retainer, a poison or fire damage retainer, and a crit-and-lifesteal retainer.

Frost hammer: a chain, not a damage race

Frost hammer is a control build, and its damage comes from the enemy being unable to act. The loop is a basic attack that freezes, a multi-hit hammer that applies frostbite, and a shockwave that slows by 50 percent. Two passives make it real: one reportedly adds 40 percent control duration, the other cuts damage taken from a controlled target by 25 percent.

Chain length is the number to watch. One write-up measures the chain at 3.2 seconds and says frostbite runes can extend it to about 3.9 seconds. Those are single-source figures, so treat them as a range. A second source adds a haste target of 45 percent or higher so skills land without gaps.

Energy is the other half. The reported habit is keeping around 30 percent in reserve so the next link is always available.

Decision rule: if energy drops below roughly 30 percent, stop spending and rebuild before starting another chain; a broken chain is worse than a late one. If the chain has gaps, check haste before blaming the freeze.

Fire hammer: living inside a crit window

Fire hammer is the speed build. The reported skeleton is a hammer charge, a drum skill that builds rage, a war cry and a cleave for area burst. The loop depends on a rage conversion effect that reportedly activates when crit rate is held between 50 and 55 percent. Too little crit and the loop starves; the sources do not describe what happens above the window, so do not assume more crit is better.

Hammer runes branch three ways in the reports: one adds 10 percent damage, one deals 300 percent elemental damage at the center, one adds 10 percent crit. At level 7, the center reportedly becomes a fire pillar for 600 percent attack plus 100 percent burn.

Decision rule: if crit cannot be held at 50 to 55 percent, do not run fire hammer as your farming build; the rage loop will not sustain. Fix crit first, then speed.

Thorns spin, and the retainer budget

The thorns variant is Whirlwind plus reflect, supported by the dark-gold set that reportedly strengthens Whirlwind and an energy siphon that keeps the spin going. It is the build for players who want area damage without stacks or a control chain. No threshold is published, which is why it sits outside the three main lineups.

Retainers follow a rule that is easy to get backwards. Legendary retainers go to level 10 to collect their stat. Blue and green retainers go to level 20 to collect codex rewards. Codex rewards are global, so the cheap retainers are a collection budget with a defined endpoint.

Decision rule: if a retainer is legendary, stop at level 10; if it is blue or green, take it to level 20 and stop. Past those points you are spending for a stat a build piece could provide.

FAQ

How many bleed stacks should I have before Deep Cut?

The community figure is five. Below that, the payoff spends a small stack for a small hit. Whirlwind is the reported stack tool at six hits and 30 energy.

Is frost hammer good for farming?

No. It is a PvP and high-difficulty control build, and its damage depends on the enemy being locked down. Fire hammer is the reported speed build for farming.

Which retainer should I level first?

Legendary retainers to level 10 for their stat, then blue and green retainers to level 20 for codex rewards. The thresholds are community-reported, but the direction is consistent.
